The ex-employee is absolutly correct~ yout haircuts are timed, wait times, bathroom times etc.. EVERYTHING is being timed on "big brother" thats what we would call the computer!

lol! BTW they also "frown" on stylists getting too many customer requests! They say customers should be able to go to "any" stylist and get the same cut! What a crock of ***!

Just because they send all the stylists to some *** class that everyones passes( yes everyone passes) doesn't mean they are robots and all cut the same! I am an ex~manager and I now own my salon. One thing is for sure *** Clips treated me and my employees so bad that I opened my own salon and took my employees with me!! If they had treated us good?

Who knows? Customer advice? If you find a stylist you like~ get their phone number because sooner more than later one day your gonna stop in and they will be GONE!!! Mark my words!

By far the worst place I have ever worked for! As for the General Manager: Do you even have a license to do hair? Because Most franchise owners and Vp's have never cut a piece of hair in there freaking lives! Its only about the almighty dollar!

To make $ off us "*** hairstylists!" right?? Why don't you get a life and get a job with a respectable company? Your representing a company that barely pays their employees more than minimum wage, works them to death, makes false promises, and discourages individual creativity...should I say more?? Ya but I'm sure you like sitting on your *** collecting your cushy salary at the expense of exploiting us!

Any stylists reading this??

OPEN YOUR OWN SHOP! And quit working for "The Fat Man" Good Luck and God Bless!

Wow!! I wrote the original review in 2009!!

I have had my own shop 12 years after leaving **** clips!! Im getting older and tired- and I am sad and happy to say I am closing next month! Im here to tell you it can be done! With less $ than you may think!

I will be writing a book once I retire and will post a link once its finished for anyone interested on opening there own w/ small budget!

How can you have a huge budget at $9 hr!! Right!

Is there a spot in the employee handbook that says you "have" to give a 2 weeks notice or you lose your vacation time? I'm ready to leave!!

I don't believe so- however I would take your vaca first - then give a 2 week notice. To be on the safe side!!

I never had issues working at Greatclips. The Francinisees that I had actually cared about us as human beings.

Gave us much better pay then anywhere around. Wasnโ€™t strict about the numbers as long as customers came back they were ok with product being low or longer cut times.

We got 30 min and 15 min breaks. Have absolutely no complaints with them, guess it depends on who runs the franchisee.

Breaks! ALOT of employees would complain about not getting breaks each state is different - Pennsylvania you are not required to give 30 min break!

Believe it or not! Check your state you may be surprised I was!

I think it must depend on who you work for and where. Not everyone passed training where I am, and not everything is timed.

Haircuts are, but once u add a beard service, shampoo, etc then you are no longer timed. Some franchisees are just better than others.

I have to agree with everything you said here. I worked for GC for 2 years.

I have been a stylist for more than 28 years. So I had trouble at first getting my haircut times down.

I am picky about my cuts and treated each customer with respect and gave them quality time.

I had many requests, my sales were excellent and ONE re-do in 2 years.

The guy just wanted a shorter guard on the sides.

But they hired a girl that literally botched every haircut ...raised *** constantly to the customers and in the shop..but because her "numbers" were good, no matter that she had a stack of re-dos and corporate complaints.. they praised her for her speed and numbers! Really??!

I had seen this happen numerous times over the 2 years, but it never ceases to amaze me how little they cared about customer service.

It was all about the Benjamins and numbers.

I know not all franchises are owned by same people so I'm not knocking all of them. It is just sad that we go to school to learn our trade and get paid very very little for our talents on top of being worked to death..

Its true. They suck...and don't pay well.

Your making your living begging for tips.

9.00 an hour for a 20 thousand dollar education. :(

I got fired today cuz I can't do 15 minute haircuts, yet, I have multiple request, customers have always left completely pleased and always return to ask for me cuz I spend time and actually care about how they look walking out. My review even was great but they let me go.

Totally shocked today. I got fired for giving great haircuts and great customer service. Hmmm?

I'm confused and jobless with kids to support. Thanks Great Clips.

I would open my own shop, where do you begin in that when I work for GC an barely make minimum wage?

100% agree with you. I worked for them full time more then 2yrs now...i still get same pay with the newbies and get no kind of benefits at all....we just got a new manager running the shop or you could say running the good stylists out...she's making schedules 3/4 call in or 4/5 stay late.

I thought that's against the labor law. I tried to talk to her about it and she said that the way corporate want to run.

I'm thinking about quiting there too but need to work to pay bills and i don't have the money to open my own shop. 1/3 of the clients request me there..maybe you should hire me and i'll take all of them with me to your shop.

Guest

You are absolutely correct. And there's more where that came from.

If you have a franchisee that actually cares about his stylist you are very lucky.

I however work for a cheap, sneaky, fake and unappreciative money hungry worm who could care less if you lived or died and that makes a person feel taken advantage of. Wonder what they would do if we all just walked out.

Hire someone else... it's a rotating door.

Just because you sucked at your job, doesn't mean it all sucks. I work for great owners who treat their employees like gold.

These salons are independently owned and operated. And If you can't do a basic mans cut in 20 min, you have issues.

I've worked corporate stores, franchise stores, booth rental and have owned my own salon. There's a place for all types of hairstylists, don't down any of them it just makes you look like a bitter ***.

I too did all like stated above..my problem it I am a fast cutter at 10 mins. Average per cut.Never lost my NY speed. At this time in my life and 35 years doing hair.I have nothing to show I owned my own Salon..No retirement plan 401 etc.You walk away with nothing. So being a AM at Great Clips..i am happy making a paycheck without the stress and out of pocket $ for running my own.Work + go home = peace!
